Shred Nations drop-off service location inside a UPS Store at 144 N 7th St, Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY.

Shred Nations, located at 144 N 7th St, Brooklyn, NY, operates with a current 1-star rating from customer feedback. Positioned in the dynamic Williamsburg neighborhood, conveniently near the East River waterfront and the Bedford Avenue L train station, this facility offers drop-off options primarily for off-site document destruction. While targeting local residents and small businesses needing residential shredding services or one-time purge solutions, recent customer experiences reveal significant operational gaps in secure data handling. One individual reported that their confidential shredding material was left openly accessible due to staff being unable to locate a key for the secure bin. This incident prompted the concern, “I have no guarantee that the documents were actually put into the bin after I left and not just thrown into the trash.” Such a failure in maintaining a secure chain of custody is critical, especially for sensitive processes like medical record shredding, legal document destruction, or financial statement disposal. For organizations requiring recurring scheduled shredding or on-site destruction services with NAID AAA certification, the current service model, further underscored by feedback like, “A waste of money and poor customer service,” indicates a need for enhanced procedural adherence to protect client confidentiality.

Customer Reviews

Shred Nations in Williamsburg faces significant customer dissatisfaction. The sole review cites critical issues with the secure handling of confidential documents, detailing instances where material was left exposed and unsecured. This directly impacts perceived reliability and professionalism, leading to concerns about the chain of custody and overall service quality. The sentiment suggests a lack of trust and value for money, highlighting operational lapses crucial for secure data disposal services.

“This is inside the UPS store. They told me there’s a bin I can drop my stuff in that’s locked and secure. When I got there the guy weighed the stuff to be shredded ($1 per pound which isn’t cheap) and couldn’t find the key to the bin so he left all my confidential shredding material accessible and in plain sight. The problem is that shredding is supposed to be private. I have no guarantee that the documents were actually put into the bin after I left and not just thrown into the trash. A waste of money and poor customer service. Wish I could get my money back and go somewhere they care about shredding.”
